Cam Camarena

Camarena's interest in photography began upon receiving an old Minolta SRT101 camera from his father, a camera he still uses to this day. From there his interest grew keen while his eye grew sharp; yet it wasn't until 1997 backpacking from SF to Argentina that Cam's interest developed into a full passion. Focusing on the people he met along the way, he utilized his people skills, bilingual communication, and an innate ability to put others at ease to evoke greater connection with his subjects. Cam continues to bring out the best, the subtle and the sometimes difficult qualities of all his subjects.
Cam applies an organic philosophy to his projects: let the shot develop on its own. With a little guidance he has found that each of his subjects will reveal their own crescendo. Given that each person has their own choice of words and expression, Cam considers himself lucky enough to capture it.
